Kim’s Martial Arts & Fitness 

Kim’s Martial Arts focuses on teaching traditional Tae Kwon Do, Karate Hapkido and Self Defense through a complete mind and body exercise. Grandmaster Kim has taught students from Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Wyckoff and the surrouding Bergen County area since 1979. By promoting a family atmosphere and focusing on nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits and a positive attitude, students grow physically, mentally and spiritually.

We differ from most schools in that Grandmaster Kim personally oversees all classes. He is one of the few original Grandmasters that still teaches today. Kim’s Martial Arts is family run and operated and all of our instructors and Masters have trained with Grandmaster Kim, some as long as 35 years! His son Master Paul a 4th Degree black belt is also the head Master alongside him.  Kim’s Martial Arts has only one location as Grandmaster Kim believes that students maximize benefits when they learn directly from him and his trained instructors.

About Grand Master Kim

Grand Master Tae Hee Kim

Master Kim has trained hundreds of students from the towns of Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Midland Park, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes and as far as Manahawkin, NJ. Students who trained as children 30 yrs ago continue to train as adults and have introduced their children for an entire family training experience. Master T.H. Kim began his career in Tae Kwon Do over 50 years ago. Many of the well respected Tae Kwon Do Schools in the city of Seoul and Kwangju, South Korea became the training grounds for much of Master Kim’s early beginnings. He is one of the few remaining Grandmaster’s in New Jersey and the country that still teaches all classes.

Other credits include: Master T.H. Kim trained in martial arts at the SeoSanSa Temple in KokSung city of Korea for 2 years. Tae Kwon Do training instructor for the Korean Army from 1969-1971; head Tae Kwon Do instructor at the Sang Moo Center in city of Kwangju. Master T.H. Kim is also a member of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation and a member in good standing of the United States Tae Kwon Do Union.

Master T.H. Kim is a man dedicated to the principles of Tae Kwon Do and believes that through these principles and proper training methods, one can achieve personal growth, peace of mind, and total body control

Tae Kwon Do

We specialize in teaching traditional Tae Kwon Do techniques. The curriculum includes an array of blocks, punches, and kicks that will create a stronger and more flexible practitioner. A Tae Kwon Do practitioner also enjoys other benefits such as weight loss, stress reduction, and the overall vitality that is a result of consistent exercise. All these benefits are augmented by learning practical self-defense skills that will give the practitioner confidence in his or herself during any given situation.

Hapkido

Our curriculum also includes self-defense concepts from the Korean art known as Hap Ki Do. Through the many joint locks, takedowns, escape, and pressure point techniques, we offer a versatile system of personal protection. By incorporating Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do concepts, the practitioner can learn various ranges of self-defense during a challenging and rigorous session.

Meditation

No martial arts curriculum could be complete without meditation practice. Meditation allows the practitioner to enter a calm, relaxed state prior to a class. After a rigorous workout, meditation allows the practitioner a “cool down” period before they return to the pressures of daily life. Meditation integrates and promotes a mind-body connection that affords the practitioner a clear and focused energy during daily routines.
